MSC Developing World Working Group

The MSC’s Developing World Working Group provides advice on MSC policy development activities that are relevant to developing world stakeholders, including the Developing World Program strategy. 

MSC Developing World Working Group members

The group is comprised of individuals with an advanced interest in the sustainability of developing world fisheries.  Members cover a range of stakeholder groups, including environmental NGOs, Departments of Fisheries, fisheries and marine scientists. 

May 2011 Developing World Working Group meeting

The last Developing World Working Group meeting was organised in May 2011 in London. Issues that were discussed included:

  • Fishery Improvement Programs for fisheries
  • Facilitating partnerships for developing world fishery engagement in the MSC
  • Funding certification costs in developing world fisheries
  • Representation of the developing world within the MSC
