About Global Sustainable Seafood Lunch

The Global Sustainable Seafood Lunch lasts for 24 hours as it makes its way around the world. Restaurants, businesses, schools, organisations and individuals can all take part.

It's easy

The Global Sustainable Seafood Lunch is a chance to support sustainable fishing. All you have to do is eat a dish made with MSC certified sustainable fish for lunch. It's that easy. Cook it at home, make a sandwich or book a table - lots of restaurants, workplace canteens and fishmongers are taking part.

When is it?

The first Global Sustainable Seafood Lunch happened on 30 September 2009 - watch this space for announcements about the 2010 event.

What can I do?

Take part in the next Global Sustainable Seafood Lunch. Meanwhile ask for certified seafood whenever you shop or eat in a restaurant. If you work for a business that serves or prepares seafood for customers check out Restaurants 2010 to find out how you can take part in the next Global Sustainable Seafood Lunch.

Where can I find it?

All major supermarkets are offering at least one MSC certified sustainable seafood option, and many offer dozens of choices. Restaurants who took part in the Global Sustainable Seafood Lunch 2009 are listed in Lunches around the world. For a full list of all outlets for MSC certified fish see Where To Buy.

What does the MSC logo mean?

All MSC labelled seafood has been certified to the highest standard for sustainability in fisheries management. Fisheries apply, are assessed by independent, thord-party certifiers and - if they meet our rigorous science-based standard - are allowed to put teh MSC logo on their product.

How does it make a difference?

By choosing MSC labelled seafood you can be sure you are supporting fisheries that are well managed and catching fish sustainably.
