Request for tenders: Scheme Document Review Project

10 June 2010

The Marine Stewardship Council is seeking detailed proposals from qualified consultants to review MSC Scheme Documents.

The project

The MSC has a range of requirements and guidance that control and guide the operation of certifiers who assess fisheries and their supply chains against the MSC sustainability and Chain of Custody standards. These requirements and guidance are contained in some 50 “MSC scheme documents“.

The MSC’s Technical Advisory Board (TAB) has recommended the MSC executive initiate a project to revise  all of scheme documents (excluding the standard for sustainable fishing, and the Chain of Custody standard) into a new streamlined, more simple to read and amend set of consolidated documents—the Scheme Document Review Project.

The MSC program

The MSC operates an exciting and ambitious program, working with partners to transform the world's seafood markets and promote sustainable fishing practices. The MSC certification program gives fisheries a way to independently confirm sustainability, a competitive edge in the marketplace, and an assurance to buyers that the fish comes from a well managed and sustainable source.
