Fishery: Common lobster (Homarus gammarus)
Status: The 21-day period during which parties could have lodged an intent to object to the Certification Body's determination closed on the 6 August 2007. No statements of intent to object to the final assessment decision for the fishery were received.
The certification body, Moody Marine Ltd, have advised that the fishery attained a score of 80 or more against Principles 2 and 3, but scored less than 80 against Principle 1. Moody Marine has therefore determined that the fishery should not be certified according to the MSC's Principles and Criteria for Sustainable Fisheries. As a result no public certification report will be issued at this time.

Location: The Yorkshire coast between Staithes and Spurn Point and seaward to the 6 mile limit.
Fishing Method: Baited pots.
Management: The fishery is managed by the North Eastern Sea Fisheries Committee (NESFC), vessel licensing is carried out by the UK government's Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and scientific advice is provided by the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (CEFAS).
Main commercial market: Local fishmongers and restaurants in the Holderness Coast region.
Assessment details: The assessment started in June 2005 and is expected to take 12 to 18 months.
