Fishery: Hastings Dover sole Trawl and Gill-Net Fisheries (Solea solea)
Status: The certification body, Moody Marine Limited, has announced the release of the final Performance Indicators and Scoring Guideposts (PI&SGs) that will be used to evaluate the Hastings Dover sole Trawl and Gill-Net Fisheries against the MSC Principles and Criteria.

Location: Within the Eastern English Channel (ICES Division VIId) and specifically between Beachy Head and Dungeness and offshore to the six mile limit.
Fishing Method: Demersal Otter Trawl and Gill-Net.
Management: The management system is directed ultimately by the European Union (EU) through the Common Fisheries Policy and is controlled nationally by the Member States of the EU. In England it is the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) that enforce legislation and quota management rules in waters under its jurisdiction and who manage this fishery in conjunction with the Hastings Fishery Management Group.
Main commercial market: Currently much of the fish is exported to France but the intent is to further develop local UK markets.
Assessment details: The assessment process began in March 2007 and is expected to take around 12 months.
