Fishery: Danish Blue Shell Mussel Fishery (Mytilus edulis)
Status: The certification body, Moody Marine Ltd., has announced that the fishery has entered full assessment. Initially Moody Marine seeks to open a dialogue with all organisations or individuals with a direct interest in the fishery.
Anyone wishing to provide comments or information to the assessment process (relevant to the status of the stock, ecosystem interactions or fishery management practices) is invited to contact Mrs Sandhya Chaudhury at Moody Marine.

Fishing Method: Dredging and grab boats
Management: The fishery is managed by the Danish Directorate for Fisheries within the framework of the Common Fisheries Policy and other European Union directives, including the Water Framework Directive and the Habitats Directive.
Spatial management measures are a core component of the management system, with the Limfjorden managed in a series of areas that include restrictions on fishing activities to take account of environmental protection objectives (including national and international nature protection areas), other fisheries in the area (herring and sprat trawl fisheries), recreational uses and navigational restrictions.
Annual quota for the fishery is 100,000 tons in 2008.
