Using the LogoIn order to use the MSC logo on seafood products it is first necessary to be certified for chain of custody. This involves an independent certification body assessing the applicant's traceability systems and ensuring they are sourcing from certified suppliers. After being certified for chain of custody, it is necessary to obtain a logo licence from the MSC's trading company, Marine Stewardship Council International (MSCI). Guidelines for use of the MSC logo An organisation wishing to display the MSC logo on retail and independent brand MSC-labelled seafood products, menus in foodservice outlets and 'direct to consumer' websites must undergo Chain of Custody Certification to ensure that the products are sourced from a fishery certified to the MSC Standard. Once certification has been received, the products are eligible to carry the MSC logo.
