Restaurant Associates receives MSC certification for all its restaurants
Oct 15, 2012
Restaurant Associates, the executive dining arm of Compass Group UK & Ireland, has announced that it has received MSC certification for all of its clients' restaurants. Restaurant Associates provides executive dining to companies across London including leading law firms, investment banks and innovative marketing agencies. By working with consultant chefs, Restaurant Associates also delivers award-winning food in top London restaurants.
As a leading London-based catering business, Restaurant Associates serves 250,000 customers a day across more than 100 sites, all of which will now be serving certified sustainable fish and using the MSC ecolabel on their menus.
Long-standing commitment to sustainable sourcing
Commenting on this announcement, Andy Harris, Managing Director of Restaurant Associates said, "This is a great achievement and one which demonstrates our focus on taking our long-standing commitments in sustainable sourcing to the next level. A year ago, we signed the Sustainable Fish City pledge, committing to achieving MSC certification across all of our restaurants. Today’s announcement represents the fulfilment of that goal and I am exceptionally proud of all of our teams that have been working so hard to make this happen."
Celine Aubry, Corporate Responsibility Manager for Restaurant Associates added, "By providing MSC certified sustainable fish in all of our restaurants, we are able to highlight the importance of sustainable sourcing to our customers and showcase the array of fantastic sustainable fish available and how they can be used in a range of delicious dishes. This partnership with the MSC also enables us to inform our customers about the great work of the MSC certified fisheries in minimising their impact on the marine ecosystem and this is something we will continue to work on moving forward."
A strong message
Helen Tiwari, UK Commercial Manager for the MSC says: "The fulfilment of Restaurant Associates' pledge is fantastic news, and a huge step which will help differentiate their offer in an increasingly crowded market. By exposing a quarter of a million people to certified sustainable fish, they will be helping to transform the global seafood market to a sustainable basis. Restaurant Associates' hard work and commitment will send a message right back down the supply chain to the fishermen working at sea that MSC certification is worth the effort and worth the changes they may have to make to achieve it."
Restaurant Associates and the MSC have worked in partnership to create a wide range of marketing collateral for use across its 100 plus client sites. This includes information about the MSC and its work, case studies on MSC fisheries and recipe cards for customer to take home.
