MSC certified fisheries take centre stage as Fish Tales reaches Gourmand Best Cook Book world finals

Pioneering seafood entrepreneur Bart van Olphen and inspirational chef Tom Kime have reached the world finals of the Gourmand Best Cook Book contest with Fish Tales, their collection of seafood recipes and insights into sustainable fisheries around the world. Fish Tales has already won the Best Photography category in The Netherlands, and will be judged at the Paris Cook Book Fair on 3 March.

Scapêche and the Compagnie des Pêches Saint-Malo were today certified as sustainable against the MSC environmental standard for sustainable and well managed fisheries. The certification relates to the saithe fishery in the North-East Atlantic, North Sea, and Northern Norwegian Sea.

South Brittany sardine purse seine fishery has just been awarded the Marine Stewardship Council certificate, making it the second French fishery to achieve MSC certification for sustainable and well-managed fisheries.

Sæmark has entered its cod, haddock and wolffish fisheries for full assessment under the MSC certification programme. These fisheries will be the first in Iceland to be assessed against the MSC standard for sustainable and well-managed fisheries, and the first wolffish fishery in the MSC programme.
