Astrid Fiske North Sea herring - Announcement of full re-assessment and proposed assessment teamThe Conformity Assessment Body, Food Certification International Ltd., has announced that the Astrid Fiske North Sea herring fishery has entered full re-assessment. Initially Food Certification International Ltd., seeks to open a dialogue with all organisations or individuals with a direct interest in the fishery. Anyone wishing to provide comments or information to the assessment process (relevant to the status of the stock, ecosystem interactions or fishery management practices) is invited to contact Joanna Kabut. The Conformity Assessment Body, Food Certification International Ltd., has put forward nominations for the fishery re-assessment team that will be responsible for assessing the Astrid Fiske North Sea herring fishery against the MSC Standard. Any stakeholder wishing to provide comments on the suitability or otherwise of any of the nominees is invited to contact Joanna Kabut no later than 5pm GMT, Friday 11 May 2012.
Dee Estuary cockle - Public Comment Draft Report available for stakeholder commentThe Conformity Assessment Body, Intertek Moody Marine has announced that the Public Comment Draft Report for the Dee Estuary cockle fishery is now available for comment for a period of 30 days. Any stakeholder wishing to comment on the report is invited to contact Andrew Hough no later than 5pm GMT, 2 June 2012. Stakeholders are advised that they are to provide objective evidence in support of any additional claims or any claimed errors of fact in their response to the Public Comment Draft Report. Any comments made by stakeholders shall be documented and forwarded by the certification body to its certification decision-making entity. Dutch Fisheries Organisation (DFO) gill net sole - Annual surveillance auditThe Conformity Assessment Body, Food Certification International Ltd., has announced that the Dutch Fisheries Organisation (DFO) gill net sole fishery will shortly be undergoing an annual surveillance audit. During the audit, Food Certification International Ltd., will be speaking with representatives of the fishery, fishery management bodies and other stakeholders of the fishery. Most meetings will be carried out over the period week commencing 29 October 2012 in Scheveningen, Holland. Hastings fleet pelagic herring and mackerel - Public comment draft report available for stakeholder commentThe Conformity Assessment Body, Intertek Moody Marine has announced that the Public Comment Draft Report for the Hastings fleet pelagic herring and mackerel fishery is now available for comment for a period of 30 days. Limfjord oyster dredge - Fishery certifiedThe 15 working day period during which parties could have lodged an intent to object to the Conformity Assessment Body, Intertek Moody Marine, determination that the Limfjord oyster dredge fishery should be certified closed on 1 May 2012. No objections were received and the determination therefore holds. The new certificate will be in effect for 5 years, contingent on the fishery successfully completing annual audits of its status against the MSC standard. The MSC ecolabel may now be applied to catches taken from this fishery after the agreed eligibility date of 17 October 2011, by those companies with appropriate Chain of Custody certification in place. Shetland & Scottish Mainland Rope Grown Mussel Enhanced Fishery - Determination & Final ReportFollowing a 30-day period of comment on the Draft Report for the Shetland & Scottish Mainland Rope Grown Mussel Enhanced fishery, the Conformity Assessment Body,Food Certification International Ltd., has met to consider the report of the assessment team, the report of the Peer Review panel and all stakeholder comments. The Determination reached by the certification body is that the Shetland & Scottish Mainland Rope Grown Mussel Enhanced fishery should be certified in accordance with the MSC Standard. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A DETERMINATION, NOT A FINAL CERTIFICATION RESULT. THIS FISHERY IS THEREFORE NOT YET CERTIFIED, NOR IS IT ABLE TO USE THE MSC ECOLABEL ON ANY PRODUCTS. There is now a 15 working day period during which a party may lodge a notice of objection to the determinations reached.
