Sian Ka'an and Banco Chinchorro Biosphere Reserves spiny lobster - Determination & Final Report Argentine anchovy - Annual Surveillance auditThe Conformity Assessment Body, OIA, has announced that the Argentine anchovy fishery will shortly be undergoing an annual surveillance audit. During the audit, OIA, will be speaking with representatives of the fishery, fishery management bodies and other stakeholders of the fishery. Most meetings will be carried out over the period 1 - 3 August 2012 in Mar del Plata. Burry Inlet cockle - Determination & Final ReportFollowing a 30-day period of comment on the Draft Report for the Burry Inlet cockle fishery, the Conformity Assessment Body, Intertek Moody Marine, has met to consider the report of the assessment team, the report of the Peer Review panel and all stakeholder comments. The Determination reached by the certification body is that the Burry Inlet cockle fishery should be certified in accordance with the MSC Standard. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A DETERMINATION, NOT A FINAL CERTIFICATION RESULT. THIS FISHERY IS THEREFORE NOT YET CERTIFIED, NOR IS IT ABLE TO USE THE MSC ECOLABEL ON ANY PRODUCTS. There is now a 15 working day period during which a party may lodge a notice of objection to the determinations reached. Clams and Cockle Fishery from Ria de Arousa - Proposed Peer ReviewersThe Conformity Assessment Body, Bureau Veritas, has proposed 2 peer reviewers for the review of the Draft Clams and Cockle Fishery from Ria de Arousa Assessment Report. Dee Estuary cockle - Fishery CertifiedThe 15 working day period during which parties could have lodged an intent to object to the Conformity Assessment Body, Intertek Moody Marine, determination that the Dee Estuary cockle fishery should be certified closed on 28 June 2012. No objections were received and the determination therefore holds. The new certificate will be in effect for 5 years, contingent on the fishery successfully completing annual audits of its status against the MSC standard. The MSC ecolabel may now be applied to catches taken from this fishery after the agreed eligibility date of 3 November 2011, by those companies with appropriate Chain of Custody certification in place.

Samherji Icelandic cod & haddock trawl & longline - Announcement of intent to use the Default Assessment Tree with the Risk Based Framework (RBF)The Conformity Assessment Body, Food Certification International Ltd., has announced its intention to use the MSC’s default Assessment Tree and to use the RBF in place of the default Assessment Tree to evaluate PIs 2.1.1 in the scoring of the Samherji Icelandic cod & haddock trawl & longline fishery against the MSC Principles and Criteria.
