<p>Management of the Irish Sea herring fisheries takes place within the framework of the Common Fisheries Policy of the European Union. Fishing activity is regulated at European level, by allocation of 'Total Allowable Catches' (TACs) to defined individual fishing areas.</p>
<p>The Northern Ireland allocations are managed by two local Producer Organisations (POs), overseen by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD).</p>

<p>The Iceland Golden redfish fishery is subject to Icelandic jurisdiction. The Ministry of Industries &amp; Innovation is responsible for the implementation of the Fisheries Management Act and for issuing regulations on conservation and exploitation of the fish stocks.</p>
<h3>Commercial market</h3>
<p>Golden redfish is primarily processed (mostly at sea) for export especially in frozen fillets, but also exported fresh chilled.<br />The largest single markets for all stocks of redfish are Germany, Japan, Netherlands and China.</p>

<p class="callout">The Conformity Assessment Body, Food Certification International Ltd, has put forward nominations for the fishery assessment team that will be responsible for assessing the <strong><span class="external-link"><span dir="ltr"><span dir="ltr"><span>Danish and Swedish Nephrops</span></span></span> fisheries</span></strong> against the MSC Standard.</p>

<p>Managed by the EU Member States through the EU Council of ministers using a TAC system. ICES provide the scientific advice for commercially exploited fish stocks in the North Sea. At sea and landings inspections carried out by EU national enforcement agencies.</p>

<p>DK: Mainly frozen to Southern Europe (Italy, France), small quantities chilled to local markets<br />SE: Approx. 20% domestic fresh and the rest exported to Denmark for freezing and sold in southern Europe.</p>

The MSC program does allow, in certain circumstances and within strict traceability requirements, the MSC ecolabel to be applied following certification to product caught before the actual date of certification. The target eligibility date therefore represents the date from which products may become eligible to carry the MSC ecolabel, however they cannot be sold until and if the fishery is certified. The actual eligibility date will be determined if the fishery is certified to the MSC standard.</p>

<p>The Iceland saithe fishery is subject to Icelandic jurisdiction. The Ministry of Industries &amp; Innovation is responsible for the implementation of the Fisheries Management Act and for issuing regulations on conservation and exploitation of the fish stocks.</p>
<h3>Commercial market</h3>
<p>Saithe is primarily processed for export especially in frozen fillets but some is also exported salted, dried and fresh.<br />The largest single markets are Germany, Netherlands, Spain and Nigeria.</p>
