Commercial Officer, DACH (f/m/d)

We are looking for a Commercial Officer (DACH) to work on a fixed term contract at our Berlin office.

As a Commercial Officer, you support the approaching and cooperation with the MSC commercial partners (processors, wholesalers, retailers, importers, restaurants, etc.) in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH) with the goal to shift their purchasing policies to certified sustainable seafood products.

The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is an international nonprofit organisation that manages the world's leading label for sustainably caught seafood. Our goal is to conserve fish stocks and marine ecosystems - working jointly with fisheries, environmental organisations, businesses and other stakeholders. We are committed to a responsible use of seafood resources.



Your tasks

Your tasks include in particular the following points:

  • Support the implementation of the regional MSC strategy for addressing and integrating companies into the MSC program in Germany, Austria and Switzerland - in close coordination with the management of the MSC Commercial Team DACH and the relevant global teams.
  • Support the Commercial Team managing various stakeholders accounts, including replying to queries about the MSC program, certification requirements, assortment design, logo usage, etc.
  • Help organise MSC events for supply chain companies and prepare presentations. 
  • Prepare information about new developments within MSC certified fisheries or MSC standards for the German-speaking market that is target oriented and partner-specific.
  • Encourage the participation of certified companies in public consultations for further development of the MSC program.
  • Update company-specific areas of the MSC website.
  • Carry out market and product analysis.

Your profile

  • University degree in business administration, sustainability management or a similar scientific discipline
  • Work experience related to sustainability, ideally in global supply chains.
  • Knowledge of the goals and operation of global certification programs and the role of sustainability labels is beneficial.
  • Diplomatic appearance and understanding of the complexity in the area of conflict between environmental protection and industry.
  • Responsibility and solution orientation.
  • Teamwork and willingness to cooperate. 
  • Very good computer skills, including the use of standard software packages (MSC Office package).
  • Fluent German and English spoken and written.
