Communications Manager, Fish for Good

Are you a great communicator? Can you collaborate with an international team?

We’re looking for a Communications Manager who can lead on delivering the MSC’s over-arching aims and objectives in the Fish for Good project.  

You’ll be responsible for coordinating and implementing communications strategies around the Fish for Good project to our audiences in the Netherlands, Indonesia, Mexico and South Africa. You will also actively engage on communications opportunities with the Dutch Postcode Lottery – the main funder of the Fish for Good project – and keep the Lottery well informed about the progress of the project. 

 

Who are you?

You hold an advanced degree or have equivalent experience in a communications or marketing discipline. You have relevant professional qualification or experience in project management and experience managing / creating social media and web content. You are an excellent spoken and written communicator in both Dutch and English.

You identify yourself as: 

  • a story-teller, able to convert complex strands of content to compelling and attractive positive stories
  • a creative person at ease working with designers and commissioning multimedia content to communicate complex issues in a clear manner to a wide variety of audiences across diverse channels
  • a natural team-player, building trustful relationships with internal and external collaborators in order to achieve your goals
  • an open-minded and respectful collaborator with cultural awareness and sensitivity to the diversity of values, views and approaches to issues relevant to the MSC, its staff and its work
  • an ocean lover, familiar with sustainable development and related communication issues

Who are we?

The MSC's vision is for the world’s oceans to be teeming with life, and seafood supplies safeguarded for this and future generations. Through our internationally-recognised certification and ecolabeling programme well-managed sustainable fisheries are recognised and rewarded in the market place, through the leadership of our partners. Critically, other fisheries are incentivised to improve their performance to meet the growing demand for certified sustainable and traceable seafood choice. 

Over 400 fisheries around the world, representing 14% of the annual global marine catch, are now engaged in the MSC programme and over 1200 documented improvements to the way our oceans are being fished have been recorded. MSC certified and labelled seafood products are now available in over 100 countries.
