Fisheries Outreach Officer, UK and Ireland

MSC’s UK team is looking for a passionate Fisheries Outreach Officer with excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills to help facilitate sustainability improvements in UK fisheries through Project UK Fisheries Improvements (PUKFI) and the MSC certification programme.

About the role

Successful fisheries outreach is at the heart of the MSC programme, vital to driving participation in the MSC programme and facilitating fishery improvements to achieve healthy oceans for future generations. 

We are seeking a keen advocate of the oceans with knowledge of the sustainable seafood sector who is looking to develop skills in working on large scale fishery improvement projects with a varied group of fishery stakeholders. The successful candidate must be an advocate for the MSC’s mission to making a lasting contribution to global sustainable fisheries.

The Fisheries Outreach Officer will have experience of working in the marine, seafood or fishing sectors, preferably in the UK, and must be organised and able to engage and communicate with a wide range of audiences.  They will be expected to build and maintain excellent working relationships with the UK and Irish seafood sectors, including those fisheries already in the MSC programme and those working towards certification, to support the MSC in its mission for healthy oceans and sustainable seafood. 

Reporting to the Senior Fisheries Outreach Officer UK and Ireland, the successful candidate will work as part of a committed, dynamic and busy Fisheries Outreach team in close collaboration with our Commercial outreach and Communications teams to support the delivery of fishery improvements and contribute to the attainment of UK fisheries sustainability. 

The post will be based in MSC’s headquarters in London (EC1A 2DH) with regular travel and out-of-hours work as required.
