The Marine Stewardship Council is currently offering the unique and exciting opportunity to join as PR Manager in Paris.

About the role

Are you an experienced PR practitioner or journalist looking to work for an international organisation making a difference? Can you bring people together to deliver communications across multiple channels? And can you find and tell an inspiring story which will change the way readers behave? We’re looking for a PR Manager for our team in Paris. Under the supervision of the Senior Communications and Marketing Manager, France you will design and deliver communications aimed at building the MSC’s profile and supporting its mission.

As a global leader in sustainable fishing, and with the need to protect our oceans by increasing public awareness, we’re looking for a skilled communicator to help increase positive media reporting about the MSC. We feature regularly in the food, health and environment media as well as trade and news media. As PR Manager, you will play a vital role helping us to design and execute excellent PR campaigns securing great media coverage. You will be responsible for proactive and reactive PR efforts, including the development and execution of PR campaigns, writing and commissioning editorial, coordinating announcements and responding to media enquiries.

You will also coordinate responses to risks to the MSC’s reputation. This includes preparing and maintaining reactive briefings and positioning statements. 

This post will working closely with the MSC’s headquarters, managing budgets and contracts, and has line management responsibility for one person.

Who are you?

You will:

  • Be qualified to degree level and have significant experience in PR and/or communications in sustainability, marine, or environmental issues  in the consumer and trade sector with a repertoire of media contacts relevant for this post.
  • Have proficient writing  and copywriting skills, for a range of stakeholders including  for the media and  in presentations.
  • Be able to evidence an ability to successfully manage relationships with stakeholders, collaborators and colleagues, preferably in an international context.
  • Be able to demonstrate successful project/program management, work planning, personal organisation and time management skills.

The MSC’s vision is for the world’s oceans to be teeming with life, and seafood supplies safeguarded for this and future generations.  Through our internationally-recognised certification and ecolabeling programme well-managed sustainable fisheries are recognised and rewarded in the market place, through the leadership of our partners.  Critically, other fisheries are incentivised to improve their performance to meet the growing demand for certified sustainable and traceable seafood choice.   Over 400 fisheries around the world, representing 16% of the annual global marine catch, are now engaged in the MSC programme and over 1200 documented improvements to the way our oceans are being fished have been recorded.  MSC certified and labelled seafood products are now available in over 100 countries.
