The MSC’s vision is for the world’s oceans to be teeming with life, and seafood supplies safeguarded for this and future generations. Through our world-leading certification and ecolabeling programme we recognise and reward sustainable fisheries and through the leadership of our partners, create market incentives to encourage other fisheries to improve the way they operate. Over 300 fisheries around the world, representing 16% of the annual global marine catch, are now engaged in the MSC program.  MSC certified and labelled seafood products are now available in over 100 countries.

Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, in this exciting and demanding role the Regional Director, Northern Europe will lead our Northern European teams and build on the MSC’s progress in these regions, that have already seen significant engagement from fisheries, commercial and eNGOs partners.  The post holder will be charged with building and strengthening key relationships amongst the harvest sector, processors, retailers and the conservation community, as well as other stakeholders, and ensuring the delivery of our core objectives for Northern Europe.  Enhancing partner satisfaction from their engagement in the program will be a core performance objective.  As part of the Senior Programme Management team, the post holder will also be responsible for contributing to the delivery of the vision and mission of the MSC more broadly and to the collective management and strategic development of the organisation.

An experienced leader and manager, you will lead and be responsible for dedicated teams managing engagement with fisheries, supply chain partners, media and other stakeholders in key markets throughout the region.

You should be fluent in written and spoken English and have extensive knowledge of the seafood and fishing industries, sustainable seafood movement and/or NGO sector, and the role of credible certification in the broader landscape of tools to drive sustainable development.  Able to make decisions in a rapidly changing environment, you will also have a strong focus on the delivery of excellent customer service, be confident as an ambassador and spokesperson for the MSC and be able to demonstrate to others your empathy and interest in the MSC’s mission and objectives.
