Capacity Building Training Workshops

The MSC offers regular and practical training workshops to a range of stakeholder groups including government, industry, universities and NGOs, as well as fisheries experts and consultants who wish to attain expertise of the MSC requirements.

The workshops are available at three levels:

  • Level 1 - Introductory workshop: A one day workshop which introduces participants to the MSC program, the MSC Fisheries Standard and MSC's fishery improvement tools
  • Level 2 - Comprehensive workshop: A five-day workshop which takes participants through the Fisheries Standard at a detailed level, how to benchmark a fishery against the MSC requirements, and how to identify actions for improvement. Participants will also learn how to use the MSC fishery improvement tools and how to apply the Risk-based Framework (RBF) to data limited fisheries.
  • Level 3 - Practical workshop: A week long practical workshop during which participants will conduct a gap analysis of a fishery and develop a fishery improvement action plan under the guidance of an MSC assessor.

Next scheduled workshop

Attendee application for the workshop on 5 - 9 September 2016 in London is now closed.
