The lumpfish (sometimes known as lumpsucker) is found throughout the northern Atlantic around Greenland, Iceland and Canada's Labrador coast, as well as in the North Sea, Baltic Sea and Barents Sea. Lumpfish is an important species for the Icelandic fishing industry.

In terms of food, lumpfish roe is used extensively in Scandinavian cuisine and makes for a delicious, affordable garnish.
