Work in need of support

Here is a selection of projects that your support will help us to take forward:

  •  Developing World Programme: Support the MSC's vital work with developing nations and secure seafood for their future. 200 million people in developing nations depend directly on the fishing industry; 1 billion people in Asia, and 1 in 5 Africans depend on ocean fish for their entire supply of protein. More information about the Developing World Programme.

  •  Fish & Kids: Help us to bring sustainable seafood to school canteens and school classrooms; teaching pupils and parents about marine life and empowering children and families to make informed choices about seafood. Fish and Kids website.
  • Fish & Kitchens: Increase our work with restaurants, both major chains and independents, to bring sustainable seafood options into everyday life.

  • Proving the environmental benefits: Pioneer our work with international experts to develop a data collection and analysis framework to track our conservation impacts. Capturing the compelling evidence of how participation in the MSC programme protects endangered species and habitats will trigger greater demand for fishery certification around the world and increase the availability of sustainable seafood. More information about the environmental benefits project.
  • Communicating our message in Europe: With EU nations alone importing nearly 10million tonnes of seafood a year it is essential that the MSC reaches out to consumers, retailers and processors in Europe. Your support will enable us to command a strong presence at key consumer and industry events, backed up by compelling communications tools, in different European languages.
