Raymond Blanc turns detective for new animated series

Top chef, Raymond Blanc OBE, has turned detective for a new series of short animations about sustainable fish. The Chef Patron of Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons has followed Inspector Clouseau, turning in a cartoon super-sleuth to investigate three cases that would test even the greatest of detectives.

Launching online on 17th February, the films follow ‘Inspector’ Blanc as he investigates the curious cases of The Fish in the Canteen, Seafood Sabotage and The Fish out of Water.

Raymond Blanc explained his motivation for the series: “Fish sustainability has always been integral to my businesses. Each aspect of what we do is driven by ethical, environmental, seasonal and regional values, whenever possible.  What may not have been achievable yesterday is often achievable today; as a chef and a consumer I work in partnership with the fishmonger and with food producers exchanging knowledge.  We are still the only two Michelin starred restaurant in the country to be MSC certified and I hope these short films will encourage others to take their seafood sustainability seriously. Choosing sustainable seafood isn’t hard; you just need to look for the MSC label.”

Searching for the best

“Morse, Marple, Clouseau and now Blanc’ said the MSC’s Toby Middleton, “Raymond is joining an illustrious line of great detectives as he searches for the best in sustainable fish. There are already 22 MSC certified universities and nearly 4,000 schools. I’d like to see that extended to the whole country so that we can look after the future of our fish stocks while ensuring a bright future for our students.”
