The Marine Stewardship Council is inspiring students to learn about ocean risks and their solutions.

Sea Week takes place 5-13 March in Australia and New Zealand to celebrate connecting with our seas.

Ocean literacy is an ‘understanding of the ocean's influence on us and our influence on the ocean.’

Together, with its partners, the MSC is advancing ocean literacy so that our future leaders and shoppers are equipped with the knowledge to continue the fight to protect our ocean.

Our ocean covers 70% of the planet and supports life as we know it. Every second breath we take comes from the ocean. It feeds billions of people and hosts 80% of the world’s biodiversity.

However, the health of our seas is threatened by pollution such as abandoned fishing nets, overfishing, and the effects of climate change.
