The Trusted Labels Group has made a submission to the ACCC about Environmental and Sustainability Claims.

A credible claim such as the MSC blue fish tick label independently verifies that your seafood comes from a sustainable source

Recommendations include:

  • The ACCC must look at improving its definitions to incorporate stricter interpretations between certified and non-certified products
  • Brands and retailers who leverage third-party schemes should commit to educating consumers on what these labels mean in a way that is compelling, interesting, and meaningful
  • The ACCC should provide strong and clear guidance to underpin its principles and strengthen the role of third-party accreditation throughout the document
  • Claims by brands should be underpinned by a supply chain assurance system
