The Ocean has provided nutritious food for nearly two million years. It contributes to the air we breathe, the food we eat, the livelihoods of millions of people, and so much more.
Let's keep it that way.
World Ocean Day
June is a time to celebrate our ocean and the major role it plays in everyday life - it's National Ocean Month, and June 8 is World Ocean Day.
Our ocean feeds billions of people, covers over 70% of the planet, and provides 80% of the world’s biodiversity.
Choosing the MSC blue fish label when purchasing seafood is just one of many small actions you can take this World Ocean Day—and every day—to support sustainable fisheries and protect our ocean.
When we look after the ocean, the ocean looks after us.
World Ocean Day 2021
June 8 has been officially recognized by the United Nations as “World Oceans Day” since 2008. In 2021, the organizers dropped the “S”, and are asking the world to do the same. Learn more about the significance of this shift, and how you can get involved in protecting our one shared ocean.
