MSC's Laura McDearis Recognized as Puget Sound Business Journal “40 Under 40” Honoree

Laura McDearis of the Marine Stewardship Council receives the PSBJ

Congratulations to Laura McDearis, US Program Director for the Marine Stewardship Council, on being named one of the Puget Sound Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” honorees for 2026. In her short time as US Program Director, Laura’s efforts are already being recognized, and her leadership in the Seattle area and beyond is already having an impact.

The Puget Sound Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” awards—in its 26th year—recognizes “rising stars in the local business world who have distinguished themselves in their companies, their communities and their industries.”

Laura’s recognition reflects her dedication to advancing sustainable seafood and ocean stewardship, as well as her commitment to collaboration and positive impact across the seafood industry. Laura stepped into the role of US Program Director at a strong moment for the MSC in the US after eight years of rising up through the ranks of the organization. With global seafood demand projected to double by 2050, ensuring fisheries are managed sustainably is critical to global food security.

The MSC is proud to celebrate this well-deserved honor and grateful for her leadership at the Marine Stewardship Council.
