MSC stars in Mission: Save the Ocean on National Geographic Wild

"If we cannot sustain our oceans, then our children do not have a future." says Maurice Brownjohn of the PNA Western and Central Pacific tuna fishery, which lands half the world’s catch of skipjack. Mission: Save the Ocean, which will premier in the UK on National Geographic Wild this weekend, shows how the MSC engages with fisheries, retailers and consumers worldwide to help them secure a bright future for our oceans and the livelihoods of the communities that depend upon them.

The film was produced by the United Postcode Lotteries as part of Postcode Lottery Project Oceans. The series aims to raise awareness about the situation in the oceans today. The Foundation has, over the last three years, helped the MSC and its partners deliver projects that are transforming the global seafood market to a sustainable basis.

Introduced by Richard Branson, an Ocean Elder and advocate of business-based solutions to environmental challenges, the film shows how, whether in the remote islands of the Pacific, Swedish classrooms and supermarkets, or thriving London restaurants, the MSC program is helping create a wave of sustainable fishing practices around the world.

Mission: Save the Ocean will be shown on National Geographic Wild on Sky 528, Virgin Media 228, BT Talk Talk 889 on Saturday 10 August at 6pm (GMT) and repeated Sunday 11 August at 9am (GMT).
