Ocean Ambassador Q&A

When and how did sustainability first become important to you?

I was invited to collaborate with National Fish and Chip Awards for the past two years to raise awareness of the award. I was able to experience life at a fish and chip shop and report back on my social media platform. One of the awards was on sustainable fishing which the chippies take pride in doing their part. It was the first time I discovered MSC and also when sustainability became important to me.

How did you start your journey as an influencer?

I started off casually sharing my food journey on my Instagram as I like to try out new things and it just took off from there. I did have a colleague at the time who was urging me to post more about places I have been so thanks to her for pushing me.

What’s your favourite sustainable fish dish?

Has got to be the classic fish and chips!

When you’re too tired to cook at home, what do you eat?

I am very guilty for choosing a quick pot noodle!

What do you like to drink, alongside a seafood dish?

A glass of white goes fab with a seafood dish but if I really want to focus on the dish I go for sparkling water.

What advice would you give to someone who is new to cooking seafood?

Start with seafood pasta just to get your bearings. Seafood overcooks quite easily so it's all about the practice. If all things go south... chuck some batter on it and deep fry!

Do you have a favourite kitchen gadget?

My electronic salt and pepper grinders. They are my lifesavers especially with seafood because everything gets cooked up so fast.
