Traceable seafood supply chains

Our Chain of Custody Standard makes sure that fish and seafood sold with the blue fish label can be traced back to a certified fishery.

All along the supply chain, from ocean to plate, MSC certified seafood is separated from non-certified. Every company at every step along the chain must be audited so you can trust you’re buying sustainable seafood.

More than 38,000 sites around the world, including supermarket chains, fishmongers, hotels and restaurant chains are part of this global network of traceable supplies. We regularly check to see if this traceable Chain of Custody is working. 

DNA testing has shown that mislabelling rates for MSC labelled seafood are less than 1%.
