Annual Report 2025-26
For almost three decades, the MSC has been part of a remarkable collective effort, working with leaders throughout the seafood sector to transform seafood markets, raise standards and drive positive change on the water. This year, we were honoured to be recognised by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization for our contribution to sustainable fisheries management. This recognition does not belong to the MSC alone, but to all our partners who – despite ongoing economic pressures and geopolitical tensions – remain steadfast in their commitments to sustainability.
Within the MSC Program, the number of fisheries engaged increased from 738 to 789, a 7% increase. MSC engaged catch now accounts for or 19.5% of all wild marine catch.
Engaging more fisheries is a key part of our mission, and the report highlights the role of our growing Improvement Program in achieving this.

Fishing for the Future 2026
The ocean sustains life on this planet, yet it’s under constant strain. Overfishing in some regions and fisheries continues to pose a serious risk to the ocean environment and threatens food security and livelihoods of millions of people living
in coastal communities worldwide.

Global Stakeholder Engagement Survey 2025
Over 1,100 stakeholders from a wide range of regions and sectors responded to our Global Stakeholder Engagement Survey.
The survey aimed to gain insight into perceptions of the MSC across different markets and sectors, and to identify where improvements can be made to support stakeholders and strengthen the program.
