Jennifer on ResearchGate

Jennifer Rasal is a Senior Data Science Officer at MSC. Her work includes drawing together new and old datasets with machine learning, to map out and identify patterns in fishery success of achieving MSC certification. She also provides support for internal and external researchers seeking to use and understand MSC data sets.

Jennifer is the MSC’s representative for the work being conducted by the Biodiversity Indicators Partnership that allows governments and other organizations to track and monitor progress towards the world’s Sustainable Development Goals.

Jennifer also works as a consultant for the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) conducting ecosystem assessments under the IUCN Red List of ecosystems tool.

Prior to joining the MSC, Jennifer researched marine protected areas along the south coast of the UK, focusing on the impacts to local fisheries, as well as the impacts on EU protected species.

Jennifer has also supported work completed by the Marine Biological Association in collaboration with DASSH in digitalising historical marine datasets, making them accessible to researchers.
